For contractors
Partner Program Terms
Version 1.0 · Effective August 22, 2026 · Operated by HVAC and Roof Corp
HVACandRoof is a marketplace and referral service. We advertise, take homeowner requests, screen contractors, and introduce the two. We are not the contractor: we do not quote, perform, supervise, warrant, or guarantee any work, and we are never a party to your contract with the homeowner.
You are paid by the homeowner. You pay us a success fee only after you have been paid. That is the whole commercial relationship, and the sections below say exactly how it works.
What you pay
The success fee is 10% of what you actually collect from the homeowner before tax, capped by job type. The cap means your effective rate falls as the job grows — it never rises, and the fee is never more than 10%.

Founding Partner rate — 50% off
Contractors joining during the launch period pay half of every fee above for their first 10 completed jobs, or 90 days from signature, whichever comes first. The discount and its end date are written into your agreement.
When the fee is charged
Only on a job you were paid for
All five must be true before a fee is owed:
- we introduced you to the homeowner through a tracked request;
- you and the homeowner signed a written contract;
- any cancellation period has expired;
- you have received cleared payment; and
- that payment has not been refunded or charged back.
Never on a deposit
The entire fee lands on the final invoice. We take nothing from a deposit, which means our own money stays at risk until the homeowner confirms the work is finished. If the job is never completed and paid, we are never paid either.
Never on sales tax
The fee is calculated on the pre-tax contract price. Sales tax, permit and inspection fees you remit to a government authority, third-party financing fees, and customer-supplied materials are all excluded from the base.
No fee at all in these cases
Duplicate requests; leads outside your trade or service area; homeowners you can document as existing customers; unreachable or fraudulent contacts; cancelled jobs; unpaid balances; fully refunded jobs; and warranty or callback work you perform at no charge.
Bad-lead credits
Tell us within 5 business days, with evidence, and we credit the lead: invalid contact, wrong trade, outside your area, no ownership of the property, a duplicate, or a homeowner who says they never submitted a request.
Rate changes need 45 days' notice
Any change applies only to leads delivered after the effective date, and you may leave without penalty during the notice period. Founding Partner rates are locked for their stated term.
How the money moves
You are the merchant of record. When a homeowner pays through HVACandRoof, the payment goes to your own connected payment account and our fee is deducted as a platform fee. The homeowner’s receipt and card statement show your business.
HVACandRoof does not hold construction money. We do not collect homeowner deposits for you, operate an escrow account, decide when project funds are released, or pay your suppliers and subcontractors. Money for the job is between you and the homeowner.
What we require of you
Licensing and insurance, verified quarterly
Active licenses and registrations for your trade and locations; general liability of at least $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate; commercial auto; and workers’ compensation where required. Certificates go on file at onboarding and at every renewal. If a credential lapses, matching stops until the replacement is verified — uploading a document does not restore eligibility on its own.
A written contract, in your name
Signed before work begins and identifying your business as the contracting party. Written change orders before extra work. Permits pulled in your own name. Lien waivers on progress payments and at completion.
Deposits capped at $2,500
A deposit may not exceed the lesser of your state’s statutory cap, 25% of the contract price, or $2,500. Several states are stricter — California, for example, limits home-improvement deposits to 10% or $1,000, whichever is less. The platform enforces this when you send an estimate and will tell you the maximum for that job. Bill the rest against progress milestones.
A real workmanship warranty
At least 1 year on HVAC work and 2 years on roofing, with manufacturer warranties passed through and registered in the homeowner’s name.
Careful handling of homeowner information
Use it only to respond to the request and perform the resulting job. Never resell it, share it with other lead buyers, or add it to unrelated marketing lists. You are responsible for your own compliance with the TCPA, state calling and texting laws, and Do-Not-Call rules, and for honoring an opt-out promptly.
Nothing improper on insurance claims
No acting as a public adjuster without the required license, no promises that a claim will be approved, and no waiving, rebating, or absorbing a homeowner’s deductible — that is a criminal offense in a number of states.
Straight answers when something goes wrong
Respond to a homeowner complaint within 3 business days and take part in good faith. We suspend contractors for lapsed credentials, unresolved regulator complaints, serious safety incidents, misuse of homeowner data, and abandoned jobs.
What we do, and don’t
Each request goes to no more than 3 contractors. Ranking is by our published scoring model — service and geographic fit, response speed, completion record, verified reviews, and current capacity. It is never by who pays the most, and every offer records why each contractor was included or excluded.
We make no promise about lead volume, lead quality, or how many you will convert. “Screened” means we checked specified credentials at a point in time; it is not a guarantee of any contractor or of any job.
You are an independent business. Nothing in this program creates an employment, partnership, joint venture, agency, or franchise relationship, and you set your own prices, methods, and schedule.
This page is a summary, not the contract
The binding document is the Contractor Marketplace Agreement you sign during onboarding, together with the fee schedule attached to it. Where this page and that agreement differ, the agreement governs. Rates shown here are the current published rates and may change on 45 days’ notice as described above.
