The businesses we match own their licenses, quotes, contracts, workmanship and warranties. One exception we always name rather than bury: HVAC and Roof Corp, which operates this marketplace, holds EPA Section 608 Universal certification and performs some work itself — so the contractor matched to you is occasionally us, and when it is, we tell you. Mini-split installation is our launch specialty.

HVACandRoof may earn a disclosed fee or commission from contractors for qualified introductions or completed jobs — that's our business model, stated plainly, and it doesn't add to the contractor's price obligation to quote you directly.

Only the small number of screened contractors matched to your request — at most three — plus HVACandRoof itself to run the matching. Your request is never sold broadly or added to spam lists, and personal details are never sent to analytics.

Specific checks, not a vague badge: active licensing where the trade and location require it, liability insurance, workers' compensation where applicable, business registration, a genuine service area, relevant specialty experience, complaint history, and periodic reverification. It depends on the number of zones, the equipment brand and capacity, line-set routing, electrical work and installation access. Rather than quote a generic number, the estimator gives you a preliminary project summary in about a minute, and the matched contractors confirm firm price ranges after reviewing the details — before any work is scheduled.

A zone is an area with its own indoor unit and its own temperature control. Some homes do well with a single zone covering one problem room; others benefit from a unit in each main living area and bedroom. Room count, layout, square footage and how you use each space all matter. The estimator suggests a likely range, and a contractor's site visit settles the final count.

No. The estimator produces a planning estimate: a likely project type, zone count and capacity range based on what you enter. Final equipment selection and pricing require an on-site review of insulation, windows, electrical service, room layout and installation conditions — and the binding quote always comes from the contractor you choose, in writing.

No. You can accept the estimate you receive, get other quotes to weigh it against, or hire nobody at all. If you'd rather stop hearing from a matched contractor, tell them or tell us — responsiveness and respect for that are part of staying in the network.

Yes, though roofing coverage is rolling out more gradually than our HVAC network. We confirm real roofer availability for your area before sharing your request with anyone — if we can't support your ZIP code yet, we say so instead of pretending.
