Our launch specialty
Mini-Split Installation
Ductless mini-splits are our launch specialty. Whether it's one bedroom that never cools down or whole-home, multi-zone comfort, a well-designed mini-split project starts with your rooms — square footage, layout, insulation and how you use each space — not with a catalog page.
HVACandRoof doesn't install equipment. We match your request with a small number of screened, independent mini-split installers in your area, after you've seen an honest preliminary plan from our free estimator. The contractors you're matched with are independent businesses: they visit the space, confirm sizing, and give you their own written estimates.
Signs you may need this
- One or more rooms never match the rest of the house — too hot in summer, too cold in winter
- You're finishing an attic, garage, addition or sunroom that ductwork can't reach
- Your home has no ducts at all (radiator or baseboard heat) and window units aren't cutting it
- You want room-by-room temperature control instead of one thermostat for the whole house
- You're replacing window ACs or space heaters that are loud, inefficient or unsafe
Questions worth having answers for
These are the questions our request form — and any good contractor — will ask. “I don't know” is always an acceptable answer.
- How many areas need their own temperature control (one room, several, the whole home)?
- What is the approximate square footage of the space you want conditioned?
- Is this heating and cooling, cooling only, or supplemental comfort?
- Is there an existing system being removed or replaced?
- Do you already have a suitable electrical circuit, or is that unknown?

Mini-Split Installation questions, answered plainly
How much does a mini-split installation cost?
It depends on the number of zones, equipment brand and capacity, line-set routing, electrical work and installation access. No online tool can give you a final price. Our estimator explains the factors and gives you a realistic project outline; the screened installers you're matched with confirm firm pricing after seeing the space.
Who actually installs the system?
An independent, screened local contractor — not HVACandRoof. The installer owns the estimate, the contract, the workmanship and any labor warranty. We check credentials like licensing and insurance where required before contractors join the network, and we disclose that contractors may pay us for qualified introductions.
How many zones do I need?
A zone is an area with its own indoor unit and temperature control. Some homes do well with a single zone covering one problem room; others put a unit in each main living area. Room count, layout, square footage and usage all matter. The estimator suggests a likely range, and an installer's site visit settles the final count.
Can a mini-split handle heating in a cold climate?
Modern cold-climate models are designed to heat effectively in sub-zero temperatures, and many homes use them as primary or supplemental heat. But performance varies significantly by model and home. Whether a mini-split can carry your winter load alone is exactly the kind of question the matched installer confirms on site with cold-climate-rated equipment.
Is the online estimate a final quote?
No. It's a planning estimate: a likely project type, zone count and capacity range based on what you enter. Final equipment selection and pricing require an on-site review of insulation, windows, electrical service and installation conditions — and they come from the contractor you choose, in writing.
