Heat Pump Installation in Dallas, TX

A heat pump is an easier argument in Dallas than almost anywhere, and the reason is arithmetic rather than enthusiasm. The machine is an air conditioner that also runs in reverse, this market needs far more cooling than heating, and the heating load it has to cover in January is small. So the equipment spends most of the year doing the job you were buying anyway, and the backup-heat conversation that dominates a Rockford quote is a modest line item here.
What deserves scrutiny instead is the running-cost claim. In a deregulated market the rate you pay comes from a retail provider you chose, and rates vary more between providers than efficiency tiers vary between machines. A quote that models savings against a generic state average is modelling somebody else's bill. Ask for it to be run against your actual rate.
And ask the incentive question in its Texas form. Oncor pays its efficiency incentive to an approved participating service provider rather than to you, so whether a contractor is enrolled in the open program changes the real price of the same equipment. It is a fair question to put to every contractor quoting the job.
About heat pump installation generally
A heat pump moves heat rather than making it, which is how one machine can cool the house in July and heat it in January. It is also why the installation matters more than with a furnace: the same equipment can be excellent or disappointing depending on how it was sized, what it is paired with, and how it is set up to behave in cold weather.
HVACandRoof is a matching marketplace, not usually the installer — and where HVAC and Roof Corp performs the work itself, we say so rather than presenting our own crew as an independent match. We put your project in front of a small number of screened installers. They assess your home, your existing heating and your electrical service, and each gives you their own written estimate — including, if you ask, a conventional alternative to compare it against.

HVACandRoof is a contractor-matching marketplace. The contractors who quote and perform your work are independent businesses — except where the contractor matched to you is HVAC and Roof Corp itself, which we tell you — and we may earn a fee when a request is matched or a job is completed.
